In a major political setback to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), three of its MLCs have officially joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The leaders— Kalyan Chakravarthy, Karri Padmashree, and Marri Rajasekhar —were welcomed into the party by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who draped the party scarves around them in a formal induction ceremony.
The MLCs had already resigned from YSRCP several months ago , but their resignations were not accepted . Speaking at the event, they expressed frustration that despite waiting for six months, their resignations were deliberately kept pending. Marri Rajasekhar alleged that the Legislative Council Chairman, influenced by external pressures, was behind the delay in approva l.
The new entrants vowed to strengthen TDP under Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership. This development comes as a morale booster for TDP while dealing a sharp blow to YSRCP, signaling shifting political equations in Andhra Pradesh ahead of future elections.
