Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan received a major setback after the state government cancelled registrations linked to 24.84 acres of assigned land.
The land was registered under Saraswati Power and Industries. Officials cancelled registrations for 20 acres in Vemavaram and 4.84 acres in Pinnelli village of Palnadu district. Authorities acted after a report from the district collector found irregularities in the registrations.
The issue relates to land acquired for an industrial project planned during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Later, the lease period for the project land was extended to 50 years.
After the coalition government came to power in 2024, it reviewed the land records. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan inspected the area and ordered a detailed inquiry. Officials also investigated complaints from Dalit farmers who alleged that assigned lands were taken from them through pressure.
The inquiry found that 24.84 acres were registered against rules. As a result, the government cancelled the registrations and issued fresh orders.
