Bihar Assembly Oath Errors

Bihar Assembly oath errors during MLA swearing-in ceremony

On Monday, the Bihar Assembly witnessed unusual moments as several MLAs faced Bihar Assembly oath errors while taking their oath. A total of 235 newly elected MLAs were sworn in, but many were stopped midway for reading the oath incorrectly. The issue of Bihar Assembly oath errors drew attention as multiple leaders struggled with the official format.

JDU MLA Vibha Devi hesitated while reading her lines and needed help from fellow MLA Manorama Devi. BJP MLA Renu Devi from Bettiah was also stopped after she read the oath in the wrong format, and she had to take it again. Similarly, Anita Devi of Warisaliganj went off the script, leading the Pro-tem Speaker to interrupt her mid-oath.

Some MLAs mistakenly swore to both God and integrity, which is not allowed, so they were asked to choose only one. The repeated interruptions created confusion inside the House.

The Assembly session was completely digital, with live broadcasts displayed on wall-mounted screens. MLAs watched the ceremony from their seats, and NDA members occupied 85% of the benches. The first session of the 18th Legislative Assembly began after Pro-tem Speaker Narendra Narayan Yadav officially opened the proceedings.
