Bihar BJP Leadership Change: New Shift After NDA Victory

Swearing-in ceremony after Bihar BJP leadership change

After the NDA’s big win in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, a major Bihar BJP leadership change is expected. The BJP plans to appoint a new state president because Dilip Kumar Jaiswal has returned to the Nitish Kumar government as a minister. Political circles say the party wants to follow its “one leader, one post” rule. Because of this rule, a fresh face may soon take charge of the Bihar BJP. The term Bihar BJP leadership change is now trending in state political discussions.

On Thursday, Jaiswal took the oath of office at Gandhi Maidan in Patna along with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha, and other ministers. Jaiswal has earlier worked in Nitish Kumar’s cabinet and served as Revenue Minister before resigning this February.

He joined the new cabinet through the Legislative Council quota. Last year, soon after Samrat Chaudhary became Deputy Chief Minister, Jaiswal was appointed BJP state president. Later, Sanjay Sarawagi replaced him as Revenue Minister.

Jaiswal is known to be close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Under his leadership, the BJP performed strongly in both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. With his return to government, the party may select a new leader in the coming months.
