Bihar cabinet Muslim member Jama Khan is now an important part of Nitish Kumar’s new government. The new cabinet took shape at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where Nitish Kumar took oath as Chief Minister for the tenth time. At the same event, 26 ministers also took oath, and Bihar cabinet Muslim member Jama Khan stood out because he is the only Muslim face in this team.
Jama Khan won the Chainpur seat in Kaimur district for the second time. He defeated Brij Kishore Bind of the RJD by 8,362 votes. In the past, he served as the Minister of Minority Affairs. Earlier, he was a leader in the Bahujan Samaj Party, but he later joined the JDU and became part of Nitish Kumar’s cabinet.
He is also the only Muslim MLA in the entire NDA alliance, which won 202 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections. The JDU gave tickets to Muslim candidates in five seats, while the BJP did not give any. Overall, 11 Muslim leaders won in Bihar, and five of them came from AIMIM.
Many BJP and JDU leaders have also joined the new cabinet, making it a mix of senior and young faces from across Bihar.
