Bihar CM Launches 1,300 Urban Development Projects to Modernize Cities
In a major push toward urban modernization, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today launched 1,300 urban development projects across the state. These projects span sectors such as sanitation, water supply, road infrastructure, street lighting, sewage systems, and smart city components.
The inauguration event, held in Patna, was attended by senior officials from the Urban Development and Housing Department, municipal bodies, and elected representatives. The projects are aimed at improving quality of life in both small towns and larger urban centres, with a strong focus on sustainability and digital governance.
CM Nitish Kumar emphasized that balanced urban growth is critical to Bihar’s future. “With rapid urbanization, we must ensure cities are livable, efficient, and well-connected,” he said. The state is also working on deploying smart surveillance, waste management technology, and solar energy integration in public spaces.
Funding for the projects comes from a combination of state government allocations, central urban schemes, and private partnerships. Officials have promised timely execution, transparency, and community participation throughout the rollout.
This massive initiative is expected to generate employment, stimulate local economies, and mark a significant step in Bihar’s journey toward urban transformation
