A Bihar court sentences Rohit Sahni to life in prison for the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl in Kudhani, Muzaffarpur. Special POCSO Court-3 Judge Noor Sultana gave the verdict on the 120th day after the crime. Along with prison, the court fined him ₹2.15 lakh.
The crime happened on May 26th. Rohit attacked the girl, leaving her with severe injuries. She later died at Patna’s PMCH Hospital. Police arrested him the same day. The case drew attention because the girl’s treatment was delayed, raising questions about Bihar’s health system.
Prosecutors asked for the death penalty, calling the crime brutal. The defense pleaded for mercy. After hearing both sides, the judge ordered life in prison until Rohit’s natural death.
The District Legal Services Authority also recommended ₹8 lakh compensation for the victim’s mother. DNA tests, witness accounts, and the recovery of the girl’s locket from Rohit’s pocket proved vital in court.
