Once known only as a Kurmi leader, Nitish has united several backward and extremely backward communities around his governance style.
Kurmis form less than 3% of Bihar’s population, but Nitish’s reach goes far beyond them. His development record—roads, electricity, and safety—still wins the trust of EBCs and Dalits across districts like Jamui and Katihar. Many voters see him as a leader who delivered, not just as a caste representative.

Despite minor discontent among sections like the Kahars, voters largely remain loyal to him. For many, Nitish Kumar symbolizes development and dignity—qualities that keep his backward caste coalition strong in 2025.
