Bihar Elections: How to Vote from Home Easily

Bihar elections postal ballot voting from home

Voters in Bihar can now vote from home using the postal ballot facility. This initiative by the Election Commission helps elderly citizens, persons with disabilities, and essential service workers cast their votes safely and conveniently.

Those aged 85 years or above and voters with benchmark disabilities can apply for postal ballots within five days of the election notification. They must fill out Form D12 through their BLO (Booth Level Officer) and submit it to the Returning Officer. Later, polling teams will visit their homes to collect votes.

People working in essential services—like fire, health, transport, electricity, or media—can also apply through their department’s nodal officer. Media personnel covering polling day are now included in this category.

The Election Commission is also actively monitoring fake news and misinformation during the elections. Officials have directed teams to keep a strict watch, especially on social media, to ensure fair and transparent voting.
