Patna: Bihar Electricity Companies Record Revenue after achieving a major financial milestone in the 2025–26 financial year. The state’s power distribution companies collected a record ₹19,035 crore in revenue. This marks a 12% increase compared with the previous year.
Officials said Bihar Electricity Companies Record Revenue mainly due to improved billing efficiency, better consumer services, and timely payment of electricity bills. Reliable 24-hour power supply also encouraged consumers to pay their dues on time.
Out of the total revenue, North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited collected ₹8,866 crore, while South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited generated ₹10,169 crore. Together, the two companies collected ₹1,916 crore more than the previous financial year.
Government departments also cleared large pending electricity bills. Various departments such as education, health, police, and urban development paid about ₹2,200 crore to the power distribution companies.
Energy officials said better financial performance will help improve power services further and reduce losses in the electricity sector.
