The Bihar IAS Transfer plan has triggered a major administrative reshuffle in the state. The government led by Samrat Choudhary is preparing to transfer several IAS officers and change district magistrates (DMs) in many districts.
Under the Bihar IAS Transfer move, the General Administration Department has started preparing a list of officers for transfer. Several districts may soon get new DMs, especially where officers have served for a long time or where administrative performance has been questioned.
Districts like Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Motihari and others have had the same district magistrates for years. The government now plans to shift them and appoint new officers to improve administration and speed up public services.
Officials said the government will review the work record of IAS officers before making final decisions. Officers with weak performance may face transfers, while efficient officers may get key postings.
The reshuffle may happen after the cabinet expansion. The state is also expected to receive around 16 new IAS officers soon through promotions from the Bihar Administrative Service.
