Bihar Jail Mukti Brand Products have officially entered the open market, giving prison-made goods a public platform for the first time. The launch took place at the Khadi Mall in Gandhi Maidan, Patna, where visitors can now buy these unique items. Bihar Jail Mukti Brand Products aim to highlight inmate skills while supporting rehabilitation through meaningful work.
The initiative was inaugurated by senior prison and home department officials. They said the program helps prisoners learn practical skills and earn wages during their sentence. This income also supports their families and builds confidence for life after release.
Inmates from different jails across Bihar create the products. The range includes handicrafts, utility items, and other daily-use goods. Officials claim the quality meets market standards and reflects disciplined training inside prisons.
Apart from Khadi Mall, the products are also available at the Bihar Museum’s handicraft outlet. Authorities plan to expand sales to more locations and online platforms in the future.
The government believes this effort will reduce reoffending by giving prisoners real work experience. Public support is expected to strengthen the program and encourage social reintegration through skill-based employment.
