Kartik Purnima is being celebrated across Bihar with devotion, as thousands of people take a holy dip in the Ganges. The day holds special spiritual meaning, but this year’s celebration turned tragic in Patna. Early in the morning, a truck collided with an auto-rickshaw carrying devotees going to bathe in the Ganges for Kartik Purnima. The accident, which took place near Simra in the Parsa Bazaar police station area, claimed three lives on the spot.
According to reports, twelve others, including a woman and a child, were seriously injured and rushed to PMCH for treatment. The incident occurred around 5 a.m., leading to chaos and distress at the site. Witnesses described the scene as heart-wrenching, with people crying and searching for their loved ones.
Meanwhile, large crowds gathered in other parts of Bihar, including Motihari, where devotees thronged rivers like Budhi Gandak, Gandak, and Bagmati to take ritual baths and offer prayers. Despite the festive mood, the Patna road tragedy has cast a shadow over the Kartik Purnima celebrations.
