Bihar is set to get Bihar new rail corridors, giving daily commuters faster and safer travel options. The Railways will build three corridors that link major towns and connect them to the Patna Ring Rail Network. These Bihar new rail corridors aim to make daily travel smoother for people across many districts.
The first corridor runs from Buxar to Kiul. It will help passengers move easily between western and central Bihar. The second corridor covers Fatuha, Patna, Chhapra, Sonpur, Hajipur, and Muzaffarpur. This route will support thousands of daily travelers in northern Bihar. The third corridor connects Patna, Fatuha, Bakhtiyarpur, Bihar Sharif, Tilaiya, Gaya, and Jehanabad. This line links key educational and business towns.
A total of 260 kilometers of new railway track will come up. The project cost is about ₹9,000 crore. A 10-kilometer rail bridge over the Ganges will link Didarganj and Fatuha. It will run parallel to the Kachchi Dargah–Bidupur bridge and connect Patna to Sonpur, Hajipur, and other stations.
Local trains will operate during morning and evening rush hours. Long-distance trains will use the tracks later in the day, giving commuters more comfort and reducing congestion across Patna and nearby districts.
