In Arrah, a senior police orderly was attacked while off duty. Assailants slit his throat, killing him on the spot. The shocking murder sent a wave of fear among police ranks and residents in the area.
In Kaimur district, a Deputy Superintendent of Police and his team met with a severe road accident. A speeding truck rammed into their vehicle on the highway. Four officers, including the DSP, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Another incident occurred in Supaul, where a police team went to raid an illegal liquor operation. A hostile crowd surrounded the officers and pelted stones, leaving several policemen injured during the clash.
In a separate case, police personnel searching for a missing person’s body faced an attack from an angry mob. Seven officers were hurt before backup arrived and several suspects were detained.
Senior officials have strongly condemned the violence and announced a review of security measures for police teams on duty.
