The Bihar Police SC/ST Act case has shocked people across the state. Officers forgot to include the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in a gang rape FIR in Muzaffarpur. The case was registered at Karja Police Station and involved a Scheduled Caste girl. This mistake has raised questions about the police’s alertness in such serious crimes.
Now, the police will ask the Special POCSO Court No. 3 to add the SC/ST Act to the FIR. They have already arrested all five accused. Two suspects, Manjay Kumar and Mithilesh Kumar, were sent to judicial custody on Tuesday.
The teenage victim gave her statement before the Judicial Magistrate. The police will present her and the accused’s clothes and other evidence in court. They will also request permission for DNA and forensic tests.
Once the court allows it, officers will continue the investigation under the SC/ST Act. The Bihar Police SC/ST Act case shows how small mistakes can delay justice for victims.
