Bihar Ration Card Update: 18 Lakh More Families May Be Removed from List

Bihar Ration Card Update verification drive to remove ineligible ration card holders

Bihar Ration Card Update has brought major changes for ration card holders in the state. The government plans to remove around 18 lakh more families from the ration card list after completing a verification drive. Earlier, authorities had already removed about 12 lakh names during the first phase of checking.

Officials started the verification process to identify ineligible beneficiaries. The goal is to ensure that food subsidies reach only poor and deserving families. The Bihar Ration Card Update is part of a statewide review of the Public Distribution System.

During verification, officials found several beneficiaries who do not meet eligibility rules. Some families own four-wheelers, pay income tax, or have stable incomes. These categories are not eligible for subsidized ration.

Bihar currently has around 2.1 crore ration card holder families. After the verification process ends, authorities will remove all ineligible names. The government says this step will make the ration distribution system more transparent and fair.
