Bihar receives Rs 30,000 crore from Centre, bringing major financial relief to the state government at the end of the financial year. The funds will help the state clear salary and pension payments and manage small pending bills.
Officials said Bihar receives Rs 30,000 crore from Centre mainly as the state’s share of central taxes and funds under various central schemes. Around ₹7,500 crore will come as the tax share, while the remaining amount will support centrally sponsored programmes.
The state government has directed departments to prioritise payments such as salaries, pensions, honorariums, and assistance grants before March 10. This step aims to ensure government employees and beneficiaries receive their dues on time.
Small payments related to development works may also be cleared soon after the funds arrive. However, officials said large payments linked to major projects may still face delays because authorities are reviewing financial claims carefully.
The finance department expects additional revenue from taxes this month, which may further ease the state’s financial pressure.
