The Bihar Sugar Mills Revival plan has taken a major step forward. Under the Bihar Sugar Mills Revival initiative, the state government signed an MoU with the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) to restart the closed sugar mills in Raiyam (Darbhanga) and Sakri (Madhubani).
The agreement aims to bring both units back into operation after years of shutdown. Officials say the move will strengthen the rural economy and boost sugarcane production in the region.
NFCSF will prepare detailed project and feasibility reports. It will also guide the state on modern technology, financial planning, and mill operations.
The government expects the reopening to create local jobs and improve income for farmers. A cooperative structure will support sugarcane growers and ensure timely payments.
Leaders believe the step will attract more investment to the agro-industry sector. Farmers in north Bihar have welcomed the decision and hope work on the mills starts soon.
