Bihar Tensions Rise Over “I Love Mohammad” Controversy

Amit Shah Bihar visit I Love Mohammad controversy

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Bihar visit came at a tense time. Protests broke out in Araria and Jogbani after a social media post linked to the “I Love Mohammad” controversy. Shops were shut, and stone-pelting was reported. Police later restored peace, and markets reopened.

Shah is in Bihar for two days, meeting BJP workers in Forbesganj. Security has been tightened as police and administration brace for more unrest.

The tension began after a youth’s objectionable post angered locals. People gathered at Jogbani police station demanding strict action. Assurances from police calmed the situation. Soon after, activists from another community also protested, worsening matters.

The India-Nepal border near Jogbani was briefly closed. The SSB and local police remained on high alert, guarding markets, railway areas, and the bus stand. Officials confirmed the situation is under control, and an FIR has been lodged against the accused.

The “I Love Mohammad” controversy started in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, during a religious procession. Youth displayed banners with the slogan, sparking objections. The issue spread to other states, creating clashes and trending hashtags online.
