Bihar will provide employment to 1 crore youth in 5 years

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that Bihar will provide employment to 1 crore youth in the next 5 years. He said that the state had earlier promised 20 lakh jobs, out of which 39 lakh youth have already been employed. By the upcoming elections, this figure will cross 50 lakh.

At a workers’ conference in East and West Champaran, Nitish Kumar said Bihar is moving ahead with the Centre’s support and contributing strongly to the country’s progress. He highlighted new development schemes worth over ₹50,000 crore and assured that any gaps in infrastructure will be filled.

Nitish Kumar also underlined women’s empowerment. He recalled 50% reservation in Panchayat and Municipal polls, and 35% reservation in government jobs since 2013. Women in Bihar Police now hold the highest representation in India.

He praised the Jeevika Didi movement, started in 2006 with World Bank help. Today, 1.4 crore women are part of Jeevika, and interest rates on their loans have been cut to 7%. This, he said, has transformed women’s role in Bihar’s growth.
