Bihar’s Turncoat MLAs Face Fallout as Parties Deny Tickets in Elections

Bihar’s Turncoat MLAs

Four MLAs in Bihar who switched loyalties are now facing political isolation. Once powerful, they have been sidelined by their parties ahead of the 2025 elections.

Prahlad Yadav, a five-time RJD MLA from Suryagarha, joined Nitish Kumar’s camp during the floor test, expecting an NDA ticket. His hopes crashed as both JDU’s Lallan Singh and BJP’s Vijay Sinha clashed over his candidacy. After his son’s death, Prahlad stayed silent during the polls.

Three former AIMIM MLAs—Ruknuddin Ahmed from Baisi, Anzar Naeemi from Bahadurganj, and Izhar Asfi from Kochadhaman—also lost favor. They had joined RJD in 2022 when Nitish aligned with Tejashwi Yadav. Now, new faces have replaced them, leaving the former MLAs campaigning on the sidelines.

Izhar Asfi’s son, Imtiaz, is openly campaigning for Asaduddin Owaisi, urging voters to reject the Grand Alliance.

Meanwhile, some defectors still secured tickets. Chetan Anand will contest from Nabinagar for JDU, while Neelam Devi’s husband, Anant Singh, runs from Mokama.

The Bihar political stage is witnessing a reshuffle where loyalty, not legacy, decides survival.
