The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has once again made headlines, this time in Canada. The gang claimed responsibility for a series of shootings that targeted restaurants owned by a popular Indian food chain in Surrey, British Columbia.
A man who identified himself as Bishnoi associate, Goldie Dhillon, admitted on Facebook that he ordered attacks on three Ustaad G76 restaurant outlets. He accused the restaurant’s owner of exploiting staff and delaying salaries. “Anyone who mistreats workers will face consequences,” he wrote.
Police confirmed that gunshots hit the restaurant locations on King George Boulevard, in Newton, and on Lougheed Highway. Thankfully, no staff or customers were inside at the time. The shots damaged the buildings but caused no injuries.
This is not the first time the Bishnoi gang has spread fear in Canada. Earlier this month, another member, Fateh Portugal, posted videos bragging about shooting at properties linked to businessman Navi Tesi. He alleged that Tesi extorted $5 million by using the Bishnoi name.
Canadian authorities have launched a multi-agency crackdown to stop this wave of gang-linked extortion and violence. Last month, Canada officially designated the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terrorist organisation, adding global pressure on the jailed Indian mob boss.
