BJP has shifted full focus to the 2026 Assam Assembly Elections with a target of 100+ seats out of 126, aiming for a third consecutive victory. After a strong performance in Bihar, the party has activated an aggressive state-wide strategy under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Following delimitation, BJP and its allies (AGP, UPPL, BPF) are strongly positioned on 103 seats, while the remaining 23 Muslim-majority seats remain a challenge. To counter anti-incumbency, the party may drop several sitting MLAs and field more youth and women candidates.

Booth-level strengthening is the core of BJP’s campaign. A seven-phase organisational plan, internal surveys, and voter-level mapping are already underway. Recent victories in the Bodoland and Panchayat elections have boosted the party’s confidence toward the 100-seat target.

Key campaign themes will include development, welfare schemes, identity politics, CAA–NRC, anti-infiltration narrative, and minority outreach in select constituencies. The opposition — Congress, AIUDF, Raijor Dal — is attempting alliance formation, but BJP believes its organisational advantage will give it a strong edge.
