BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad sharply criticised the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for alleging that power supply was cut off at polling stations during the first phase of voting in Bihar. Responding to the charge, Prasad said he never expected the RJD to start “crying in despair” by noon on polling day.
Speaking to ANI, he said, “When voters, especially women, are turning out in large numbers, what has happened to the RJD? Has it surrendered by 12 o’clock? These allegations are baseless. The Election Commission has already denied any such issue.”
Prasad added that the opposition party was making excuses to cover its impending defeat. “They won’t show evidence. Instead of crying foul, they should face voters honestly,” he said, urging citizens to come out and vote in large numbers.
Meanwhile, Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer dismissed the RJD’s claims as “completely baseless and misleading.” In a post on X, the CEO clarified that voting was proceeding smoothly across the state, with all standard protocols in place to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
