Fear and confusion spread across Amritsar on Friday morning after multiple private schools received bomb threat emails. The alarming messages claimed explosives had been planted inside school premises, prompting immediate evacuations. School authorities acted swiftly and informed parents to pick up their children without delay.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that several schools in both urban and nearby rural areas received similar threatening emails. He said the police treated the matter with utmost seriousness. Authorities deployed gazetted officers at every affected school while anti-sabotage and bomb disposal teams carried out thorough inspections. Cyber Police teams have also begun tracing the origin of the emails.
A senior administrator of a prominent private school said the threat arrived on the institution’s official email ID. The school director immediately flagged it. “Student safety comes first. We closed the school for the day. Even if this turns out to be a hoax, we cannot take chances after recent security incidents,” the principal said.
Another major school alerted police instantly, following which bomb squads searched the entire campus. Deputy Commissioner Dalwinder Singh convened an emergency meeting to assess the situation. District Education Officer Rajesh Sharma said officials are coordinating closely with school managements and police to ensure safety and restore normalcy.
