World Economic Forum (WEF) President Børge Brende has praised India’s growing role in the global economy. He called India the world’s fastest-growing major economy and said it now contributes 18% of global growth.

In an interview with India Today, Brende pointed to India’s strong services sector and booming digital trade as key drivers. He said India’s digital economy, with its IT services, outsourcing, and e-commerce platforms, is helping shape the future of global trade.

“India is becoming a global leader in digital trade, especially in services,” Brende said. He explained that India’s large pool of skilled professionals gives it a big advantage.

Brende also highlighted India’s partnership with the US as vital for long-term growth. He stressed that easier market access will help India continue its expansion and strengthen its global influence.

Beyond digital trade, Brende noted that agriculture remains a challenge. With millions of Indians working in farming, reforms must be careful and balanced.

He concluded that India is not only growing for itself but also boosting prosperity worldwide. By creating demand and innovation, India is emerging as a pivotal force in shaping the global economy.
