Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27, calling it a strong step towards accelerating the state’s development. According to him, the budget will inject fresh energy into infrastructure, agriculture, industry, and employment generation.

While reacting to the budget, the Chief Minister said it reflects the Centre’s commitment to faster economic growth. At the same time, it focuses on strengthening people’s capabilities and aspirations. He noted that the proposals align with the spirit of “Sabka Saath–Sabka Vikas.” As a result, youth, farmers, women, MSMEs, and workers in Haryana are expected to benefit directly.

Notably, the Union Budget was presented on a Sunday for the first time. This, he said, highlights the Centre’s urgency and resolve to push national development. Expressing appreciation, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership. Additionally, he praised Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a people-oriented budget.

Highlighting key figures, CM Saini said the total budget size stands at ₹53.5 lakh crore. Meanwhile, capital expenditure has risen to ₹12.2 lakh crore. This marks an increase of nearly 9 percent over the previous year. Consequently, fast-growing states such as Haryana are expected to gain significantly.

Further, the Chief Minister pointed out that the budget provides an additional tax devolution of ₹1.4 lakh crore to states. The states’ share has been maintained at 41 percent, as recommended by the 16th Finance Commission. Therefore, Haryana will receive stable financial support for education, healthcare, rural development, and infrastructure.

According to CM Saini, enhanced capital spending will accelerate major projects. These include railways, highways, and RRTS corridors like Delhi–Gurugram–Faridabad. Moreover, investments in EV charging infrastructure and Industrial Model Townships will boost growth. He added that IMTs at Kharkhoda and Manesar are likely to create lakhs of jobs.

Emphasis on Skills, Technology, and Agriculture

Turning to innovation, the Chief Minister said the budget places special emphasis on Semiconductor Mission 2.0. As a result, Haryana’s electronics, automobile, and manufacturing sectors will receive a boost. In addition, support for MSMEs, startups, and the biopharma sector will strengthen skill development and innovation.

Meanwhile, agriculture has also received focused attention. CM Saini said measures related to crop diversification, water conservation, and farmer welfare will benefit rural areas. He added that state initiatives such as Mera Pani–Meri Virasat will gain wider national recognition.

Concluding, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the Union Budget 2026–27 will help establish Haryana as a growth engine. Ultimately, he said, the budget will support the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047” through faster development, employment generation, and youth empowerment.

India-France partnership has become a crucial stabilising force amid rising global uncertainty, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said on Friday. He made the remarks while speaking at the Indo-French Legal and Business Conference.

CJI Surya Kant warned that growing geopolitical tensions and disruptive forces threaten the foundations of international cooperation. In such a scenario, he described the India-France partnership as “not a luxury but a lifeline.” He emphasised that the relationship between the two nations goes far beyond diplomacy.

The Chief Justice noted that India and France share a multi-dimensional partnership covering defence, security, sustainable development, and advanced technology. He highlighted strong economic ties and pointed out that bilateral trade more than doubled over the last decade, rising from $6.4 billion in 2009-10 to $15.11 billion in the previous financial year.

Speaking on cross-border dispute resolution during the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, Justice Kant stressed the need for modern and principled legal frameworks. He proposed joint arbitration and mediation panels with experts trained in both civil and common law traditions.

He also called for deeper cooperation between Indian arbitral institutions and Paris-based centres. According to him, shared standards and joint training can strengthen trust and efficiency.

Drawing a cultural parallel, CJI Surya Kant compared the Ganges and the Seine, saying both rivers symbolise the shared civilisational depth and values that bind India and France.

Billionaire Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani have agreed to accept a legal notice from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in a SEC civil fraud case. The lawsuit alleges that they misled investors about a bribery scheme. This step moves the SEC civil fraud case forward without procedural delays.

In a filing before a federal court in Brooklyn, New York, the SEC and U.S.-based lawyers for the Adanis confirmed the agreement. The lawyers will accept service of the regulator’s legal papers on behalf of the defendants. This decision removes the need for a judge to decide how the notice should be delivered.

The filing states that Gautam and Sagar Adani will respond to the SEC’s complaint within 90 days of receiving the papers. The agreement now awaits formal approval from the court.

Legal experts view this as a routine procedural move. It does not address the merits of the allegations, but it allows the case to proceed in an orderly manner. By accepting service, both sides avoid extended arguments over jurisdiction and notice.

The SEC’s civil lawsuit forms part of broader scrutiny of Adani-linked entities by U.S. regulators. The court will now set the next steps once it approves the stipulation.
