CBI Conducts Fresh Search at Suspended Punjab DIG’s Chandigarh Residence
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out a second round of searches at the Chandigarh residence of suspended Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar on Thursday. The operation at his Sector 40 home followed reports that Bhullar was not cooperating with investigators probing a corruption case. Earlier raids had led to the recovery of large amounts of cash, gold, and property documents allegedly linked to assets disproportionate to his known income. Bhullar, who served as DIG of Ropar Range, was arrested by the CBI on October 16 in connection with a bribery case and was subsequently suspended by the Punjab government. Officials said the latest search aimed to verify documents, trace additional assets, and collect digital evidence. The CBI has intensified its investigation into alleged misuse of office and money laundering, while the case continues to draw public attention over corruption at senior police levels in Punjab.
