Gaza: A ceasefire has come into effect following a peace deal between Israel and Hamas, bringing a temporary halt to months of intense fighting. The Israeli military confirmed that it has begun withdrawing its troops from parts of Gaza as part of the agreement. Thousands of Palestinians, who had been living in refugee camps and makeshift shelters for nearly two years, are now returning to their war-torn hometowns.
However, many have been left in tears upon seeing the widespread devastation — destroyed homes, collapsed infrastructure, and uninhabitable neighborhoods. Despite the ceasefire, uncertainty looms as Hamas leaders have refused to surrender their weapons, raising doubts about the longevity of peace.
International observers have welcomed the truce but urged both sides to maintain restraint and prioritize humanitarian aid for Gaza’s displaced population. The situation remains fragile, with cautious optimism amid deep scars of conflict.
