The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation will hold its next house meeting on December 30. This will also be the final meeting of the civic body in 2025. Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria will attend the session.
The administrator’s presence makes the meeting politically and administratively significant. During the session, the Municipal Corporation will present a detailed report of its work and achievements over the past year.
Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla said the corporation faced a severe financial crisis when she assumed office. She said consistent efforts and firm decisions helped improve the financial condition. Officials will share details of development projects and fiscal management during the meeting.
Several key civic issues are likely to come up for discussion. These include poor road conditions and other public grievances across the city. Councillors from both the ruling side and the opposition are expected to raise their concerns openly in the house.
Earlier, a special meeting scheduled for December 12 was cancelled. The meeting was called to discuss the Manimajra Pocket Number-6 land issue. Internal opposition within the BJP led to its cancellation.
The upcoming meeting may revisit this land issue along with other pending matters. Observers expect an active and detailed discussion in the house.
