Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is showing a new approach in his current term. Unlike in the past, he is now acting quickly on allegations against party MLAs and ministers. In previous terms, he often relied on committees and delayed decisions. This time, he suspended Satyavedu MLA Adimoolam immediately after sexual harassment charges and ensured cases were filed against Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy.
Party leaders admitted that such decisive actions were rare earlier. Chandrababu has also started responding swiftly to public issues. He reacted before opposition leaders could visit areas affected by farmer protests over chili, tobacco, and mango prices. Recently, he clarified that pensions for the disabled would continue after protests alleged their removal. He also limited smart meters only to commercial buildings after public concerns. Senior party leaders are surprised by this transformation.
Meanwhile, the state government is preparing a massive housing program. By Dasara, housewarming ceremonies will be held for three lakh families. Another two lakh homes will be ready by Sankranti. In total, five lakh poor families will realize their dream of owning houses this year.
Officials have been directed to speed up construction. The government aims to provide ten lakh homes by March next year. Surveys indicate six lakh people still need houses. With funds available and construction nearing completion in several places, authorities are confident of meeting the targets.
