Chennai Corporation Extends Deadline for Pet Licensing by Two Weeks
The Chennai Corporation has extended the deadline for licensing pet dogs and cats by two weeks, following requests from residents for more time to complete the process. The new deadline is now December 7. The civic body announced the extension on November 21, noting that many pet owners had faced difficulties in gathering required documents and completing online registration before the earlier cutoff.
Licensing aims to create an updated database of pets in the city, ensure responsible ownership, and support better management of animal welfare and public health. The Corporation has urged pet owners to make use of the extension and complete the registration within the new timeline to avoid penalties.
Officials also reminded residents that licensing helps in maintaining vaccination records, ensuring safety in public spaces, and aiding in tracing pets if lost. Awareness drives and assistance counters will continue across zones to help pet owners complete the process smoothly.
