Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann marked Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary by dedicating a 100-foot-high Tricolour at the Shaheed-Azam Bhagat Singh Heritage Museum, Khatkar Kalan. The flag, measuring 30×20 feet, now stands as a proud symbol of freedom at the martyr’s memorial.
The CM paid floral tributes and observed the occasion simply, in line with his tradition of avoiding political rallies on this day. He washed his hands, removed his shoes, laid flowers, and saluted the memorial before hoisting the flag.
Mann also announced that a ₹51.70-crore Shaheed Bhagat Singh Heritage Complex is nearing completion. It will include a Grand Thematic Gate, a 350-m-long Heritage Street narrating Bhagat Singh’s life through sculptures, wall art, and mannequins, and a 700-seat auditorium. A replica of Bhagat Singh’s ancestral home in Lyallpur (now Pakistan) and a recreation of his native village will also feature.
Other highlights include a digital recreation of his courtroom trial, modernised library, tourist facilities, cottages, musical fountain, and landscaped gardens. The CM said the project would provide an immersive experience of Bhagat Singh’s life and India’s freedom struggle.
