The Congress party has strongly criticised the Union Budget 2026–27, calling it “totally lacklustre.” Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the budget speech failed to meet people’s expectations and did not address major economic problems.
He said the budget was non-transparent because it did not clearly mention how much money would be spent on important programmes and welfare schemes. According to him, people were left confused about government priorities, especially for the poor, farmers, and the middle class.
Ramesh also said the budget did not offer clear solutions for unemployment, rising prices, and income inequality. He claimed that many key sectors such as health, education, and rural development were ignored.
The Congress party believes that the budget lacks vision and does not provide strong support for economic growth. It said the government missed an opportunity to present a people-friendly budget that could help common citizens during difficult economic times.
