Congress Govt. at Risk if Shivakumar Is Not Made Chief Minister, Says Seer
A prominent seer in Belagavi has warned that the Congress government in Karnataka could face instability if Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is not elevated to the post of Chief Minister. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, the seer claimed that a significant section of the party’s supporters and community leaders believe Shivakumar deserves the top post, given his organisational strength and contribution to the party’s resurgence in the State.
The remarks come at a time when discussions around power-sharing between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have intensified, prompting concerns over internal discord. The seer urged the Congress high command to honour what he described as an “understanding” reached during government formation.
While Congress leaders have downplayed the comments, political observers note that such statements reflect growing pressure on the party leadership to address factional expectations and maintain stability within the government.
