Congress Slams PM Modi After Trump Repeats India-Pakistan Ceasefire Claim
Congress leaders criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi after former U.S. President Donald Trump repeated claims about an India-Pakistan ceasefire while addressing business leaders in Japan. Party leader Jairam Ramesh pointed out that Trump has made similar statements 54 times across countries including the U.S., Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the U.K. Ramesh sarcastically remarked, “No wonder his good friend in New Delhi does not want to hug him,” highlighting the party’s view that Modi has failed to manage the narrative on sensitive bilateral issues. The Congress accused the Prime Minister of lacking credibility on foreign policy matters and warned that repeated foreign assertions about India-Pakistan relations could undermine India’s diplomatic stance. The remarks come amid heightened scrutiny of Modi’s international engagements and communication strategies, with the opposition urging the government to clarify its position on cross-border tensions and maintain transparency with both domestic and global audiences.
