Heavy, incessant rains since early morning have created panic in the region. The Sasrali Colony Dhussi Bundh, already in a critical state, faces fresh danger. Continuous rains are hampering strengthening work. Villagers fear that if more water is released from Ropar, controlling the situation will become nearly impossible.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain confirmed the situation is under control for now. He said breaches were plugged with the help of villagers, the army, and NGOs. However, he warned that much depends on how much water is released from Bhakra.
In Sasrali village, people are praying for the rains to stop. Sarpanch Surinder Singh Namdhari urged the government not to release water for at least 2–3 days, so bundh strengthening could continue. Due to heavy rains, trucks and trolleys cannot reach the site.
Meanwhile, life in Ludhiana city is badly hit. Areas like Chander Nagar Pulley, Janak Puri, Salem Tabri, Basti Jodhewal, Sherpur, and Giaspura are facing severe problems. Daily wagers complain of job losses, while supplies of milk, vegetables, and newspapers remain disrupted. Residents say continuous rains have turned daily life into a nightmare.
