Srikakulam – Controversy Over Principal’s Transfer in Srikakulam has caused tensions and revived the Kalinga vs Velama debate. Duvvada Srinivas, a former YSRCP leader, accused the transfer of targeting Kalinga leaders.
The issue started when Soumya, a principal from Lologu KGBV, alleged that MLA Koon Ravi Kumar politically motivated her transfer. She claimed that he used his influence to remove her from the position. After Soumya attempted suicide, the controversy turned into a political matter.
The YSRCP took advantage of the situation by criticizing Koon Ravi Kumar, accusing him of exploiting his power for personal grudges. Duvvada Srinivas joined the debate, criticizing the government for failing to address the caste-based discrimination affecting the district.
Srinivas pointed out that attacks on a specific caste had been increasing, especially in Tekkali, where caste-based appointments dominated. He warned that this situation would lead to a larger protest movement.
The situation has escalated, attracting statewide attention as political leaders continue to exchange accusations, turning it into a significant local issue.
