In Bihar, tensions within the Grand Alliance have intensified as the CPI(M) accused a Congress candidate of being a BJP agent. The controversy began in Bachhwara, where CPI(M) leader Ramnaresh Pandey claimed that Congress nominee Garib Das secretly helped the BJP in both 2020 and 2024 elections. He alleged that Das contested as an independent earlier, indirectly benefiting the BJP, and that his family has long cooperated with the saffron party.
The CPI(M) believes that despite its victory in Bachhwara under the Grand Alliance, the Congress fielded Garib Das again, ignoring past actions. Reports also suggest meetings between Das and BJP leaders, strengthening suspicions. CPI(M) stated that this “friendly fight” within the alliance is now an open political clash.
The RJD and Congress alliance dates back to 2005, but past rebellions have echoed today’s discord. Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi will soon address rallies in Bachhwara, Begusarai, and Khagaria. Her campaign visit marks her first rally in this election season, set against growing friction among Grand Alliance partners in Bihar.
