Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad Alert Public About Fake E-Challan Scams

The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police on Tuesday issued a warning to the public about fraudulent e-challan payment links circulating online. Authorities said cybercriminals are creating fake websites and links that mimic official traffic police portals, tricking citizens into making payments for non-existent fines.
Officials advised vehicle owners to verify the authenticity of any e-challan link before entering personal or banking details. They stressed that official challan payments should only be made through government-approved platforms or the Telangana Traffic Police’s official website and mobile application.
The police also urged the public to report suspicious links or messages immediately and refrain from sharing personal financial information with unverified sources. Citizens are advised to stay vigilant, particularly during festive seasons and year-end periods when cyber frauds tend to increase. Authorities warned that falling victim to such scams could lead to financial loss and potential identity theft, underlining the importance of cautious online behaviour.
