The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has cleared a proposal to buy 114 Rafale fighter jets for the Indian Air Force. This decision allows India to move ahead with detailed technical and commercial talks with France regarding the deal.

The approval comes after the recent visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to India, which helped strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries. The Rafale jets are manufactured by the French company Dassault Aviation and are known for their advanced technology and combat capabilities.

Officials said that the purchase will help strengthen India’s air power and improve national security. The new jets are expected to enhance the Indian Air Force’s ability to handle modern warfare challenges.

Now that the proposal has been cleared, both sides will discuss pricing, production details, delivery schedules, and other terms before signing the final agreement. The deal is considered a major step in India-France defence ties.
