Delhi High Court Evacuated After Bomb Threat Sent by Email

Delhi High Court building cordoned off after bomb threat email

Panic and tension gripped the Delhi High Court on Friday after the court received a bomb threat via email. The message, which warned of explosives in the court premises, forced authorities to immediately suspend proceedings and evacuate the old building of the court complex. Judges, lawyers, staff members, and visitors were all escorted out as a precaution.

Security agencies reacted swiftly, with Delhi Police, bomb disposal squads, and sniffer dog teams conducting a thorough search of the premises. Entry and exit points were sealed, and vehicles were kept at a distance while checks were carried out. Barricades were also erected around the building to prevent crowding.

Court officials confirmed that all hearings were temporarily halted. Proceedings are expected to resume once the security sweep is completed and clearance is given. The administration has emphasized that safety of everyone on the premises remains the top priority.

So far, no suspicious object or device has been recovered, and the possibility of a hoax threat has not been ruled out. However, police sources said that they are treating the matter with full seriousness. The cybercrime cell is working to trace the origin of the threatening email and identify the sender.

This is not the first time a judicial institution in Delhi has been targeted with such warnings. Past incidents have often turned out to be false alarms, but each has caused major disruption to court proceedings and raised questions about security protocols.

Authorities have urged people to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel. Meanwhile, lawyers and litigants expressed frustration that such threats continue to waste valuable court time and resources. Investigations into the latest incident are still ongoing.
