Delhi Red Fort Blast: Assam Police Arrest Nine More for Offensive Social Media Posts
In the wake of the Delhi Red Fort blast, Assam authorities on Wednesday arrested nine more individuals for posting “offensive” content on social media, raising the total number of arrests in the state to 15. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that minors and people unaware that their devices were used for such posts would not face arrest. However, he emphasized that those directly responsible will be held accountable. The arrests follow an investigation into inflammatory online content allegedly inciting communal tensions after the terror attack in Delhi. The Assam Police have been closely monitoring social media platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation and hate speech. Mr. Sarma reiterated that the government is committed to maintaining law and order and will take strict action against anyone attempting to disturb peace. Authorities are continuing to track the origin of other such posts.
