Delhi season lowest temperature was recorded as the national capital reeled under severe winter conditions, making it the coldest day of the season so far. The sharp fall in temperature intensified the chill across the city, forcing residents to brace for harsh weather early in the morning.
Weather officials said the minimum temperature dropped well below the seasonal average, marking the lowest temperature Delhi has seen this winter. Clear night skies and calm winds allowed rapid heat loss, resulting in freezing conditions by dawn. Several areas reported an icy chill, especially during early morning hours.
The cold spell was further worsened by dense fog, which reduced visibility across major roads and transport corridors. Commuters faced delays during morning travel, while rail and flight operations experienced minor disruptions due to poor visibility. Traffic police issued advisories urging motorists to drive cautiously.
Daily life in the capital was visibly affected as people stepped out wearing heavy woollens, caps, and gloves. Street vendors, sanitation workers, and delivery personnel were among the most impacted, as prolonged exposure to the cold made outdoor work challenging. Shelters and night homes reported an increase in footfall from homeless residents seeking warmth.
Doctors and health experts cautioned that such extreme cold can aggravate respiratory issues, joint pain, and seasonal illnesses. They advised elderly people and children to avoid early-morning exposure and maintain adequate warmth indoors.
According to forecasts, Delhi season lowest temperature conditions may continue over the next few days, with cold nights expected to persist. While daytime temperatures could rise slightly due to sunlight, overall winter conditions are likely to remain severe.
Residents have been advised to follow weather updates and take preventive measures as the capital continues to experience one of its coldest winter spells in recent weeks.
