The interrogation focused on new financial leads linked to the alleged ₹325-crore GST fraud. The case drew national attention due to the scale of the fake credit network.
Jigiowala, arrested on November 6 from his Mumbai residence, came under deeper scrutiny after investigators traced suspicious transactions involving multiple beneficiaries. Officials said their team entered the prison with special permission to continue the ongoing investigation. They aimed to identify the firms that benefitted from illegal input tax credit (ITC). Sources explained that Jigiowala ran a structured network that helped large businesses inflate returns and evade legitimate tax payments. Officers now track financial routes and cross-check documents to establish the roles of each linked entity. The DGGI plans further rounds of questioning to tighten the case.
