A Dhaka bomb blast claimed one life and left several people injured in the Bangladeshi capital on Tuesday evening, triggering panic in a busy neighbourhood. The explosion occurred in the Moghbazar area, beneath a flyover near the Azadi Fighters’ monument.
According to eyewitnesses, unidentified miscreants hurled a bomb from the flyover during the evening hours. The explosive landed on the road below and detonated instantly. A young man, later identified as Siam, sustained critical injuries in the blast. He was found lying in a pool of blood and died shortly afterwards.
Family members said Siam worked at a private factory and lived in the same locality. His identity was not immediately known, but relatives later confirmed his name. Several others suffered serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Police teams reached the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area. Security was tightened as fear spread among residents and commuters. The attackers managed to flee immediately after throwing the bomb, witnesses said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam stated that initial findings suggest the bomb was thrown from above the flyover. He added that the motive behind the attack remains unclear. An investigation has been launched, and authorities are examining all possible angles to identify those responsible.
