Leh, January 2, 2026: Dhurandhar declared tax-free in Ladakh after Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta announced the decision on Friday. The move aims to promote cinema, tourism, and filmmaking in the Union Territory.

Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta said the Ranveer Singh-starrer highlights Ladakh’s stunning landscapes. He noted that Dhurandhar declared tax-free sends a strong message of support to filmmakers and creative industries. The administration wants Ladakh to emerge as a preferred destination for film shoots.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a spy action film that has achieved massive success at the box office. The movie crossed ₹1,100 crore in worldwide collections and broke several records during late 2025 and early 2026. Despite competition from major releases, the film has continued its strong theatrical run.

The Lieutenant Governor’s office shared the announcement on X, stating that the film was shot extensively across Ladakh. According to the LG, such projects boost local employment and showcase the region’s natural beauty to global audiences.

Moreover, Kavinder Gupta said the Ladakh administration is working on a new film policy. The policy will offer full support to film productions, including easier permissions and better infrastructure.

Officials believe the decision will attract more filmmakers and tourists. As a result, Ladakh may see increased cultural visibility and economic activity in the coming years.
