Over 67.94 lakh Digital Life Certificates (DLCs) were created this year to make life easier for pensioners. According to an official note, 40.42 lakh DLCs were completed using face authentication.
Between November 1 and 5, about 25.60 lakh DLCs were generated, and 61% used face authentication. The report said 37,000 pensioners above 90 years and 985 above 100 years completed their DLCs. The face authentication system works through a smartphone, allowing pensioners to finish the process anytime, anywhere. It helps aged and sick pensioners avoid visits to banks or offices.
The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare launched DLC Campaign 4.0 on November 1, 2025, in partnership with banks, India Post Payments Bank, EPFO, Railways, UIDAI, and MeitY. The campaign runs till November 30 and aims to cover pensioners across the country.
Secretary V. Srinivas opened a mega camp at Punjab National Bank, Sansad Marg. He spoke about how digital tools improve pensioners’ comfort. PNB will hold camps in 39 cities and 185 locations to support pensioners through face authentication.
