Doval Links Regime Changes in Neighbouring Nations to Failures in Governance

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has attributed recent regime changes in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to failures in governance, emphasizing that effective administration is vital for national stability and security. Speaking at a security conference in New Delhi, Doval said governance plays a “seminal role” in the “nation-building process,” asserting that poor governance erodes public trust and weakens state institutions. He highlighted that internal instability in India’s neighborhood often stems from corruption, weak leadership, and economic mismanagement, which create opportunities for external interference. Doval also underlined India’s commitment to supporting regional stability through developmental partnerships and democratic cooperation. His remarks are being viewed as both a regional assessment and a subtle diplomatic message about the importance of accountable leadership in South Asia.
